As I may recall, from looking at the above photo by Charlie Samuels from this Creative Time project, I was dancing in the street in Manhattan when I came upon an ambulance passing slowly across a sidewalk into locked up traffic. I helped the ambulance by opening up a path into the street, a routine I have at the ready when performing in the city. Directing an ambulance was quite unusual however and added an additional layer of comedic interpretation to the moment. I felt as if given my all white suit and crutches that somemight have wondered if I were helping my own ambulance. The ambulance crew had a laugh with me. It was one of those comedic moments that I knew was being recorded and that I felt like was genuine unscripted moment in my transient interactive street performances that was finally being witnessed after so many many amazing moments going down in the street with random strangers that you wouldnt believe if I told you.
